Well, if I understand him correctly - he was sarcastic when he refers to the world being beautiful but at the same time he is trying to say, that you still can find a lot of beauty in the world if you will pay close attention. Thats what I get from this song

What I really cannot understand is the end - when they are in the canoe and everybody except him is working. Why his is just playing guitar? Its kind of dishonest, I doubt that in real world somebody will work while other one playing guitar
